1945 ~ Lorraine 'Lori' Alice Ross (Kent) ~ 2023 "Lori will be remembered as a sunworshipper, whether it was camping, sitting on her deck or somewhere by the water."

The world lost a beloved Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend. Lorraine Alice ‘Lori’ Ross passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Centre, Innisfail, Alberta, in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the age of 77 years.
Lori was born in the town of Turner Valley, Alberta in 1945, where she grew up as the youngest of four children on the “tank farm”. The Kent family in time pulled up stakes and moved to the town of Innisfail, Alberta where they built their family home.
As a young lady, Lori was married to Ken Ross, and they had two sons, Bryan, and Dean. Unfortunately, after many years, her marriage came to an end. Lori did find brighter days ahead though, as she was given a second chance at love when Rick Fry entered her life.
Lori and Rick started their new life together in the mid 1980’s in Calgary, Alberta where they worked, bought a home, and lived there for some time. Lori was indeed an accomplished professional in her own right and was employed at Greyhound Canada for many years, where she ultimately retired.
They eventually relocated to Lori’s childhood home in Innisfail, Alberta to care for her mother whose health was failing, and in time she sadly passed away. Lori and Rick continued to build a beautiful life together, with their children, Bryan, Dean and Rick Jr., always close by, they always had a running joke about who was the number one son.
On December 18, 2021, Lori suddenly lost the love of her life, Rick. Being a strong woman, she
held her head high, but it was obvious to her family and friends that the loss was devastating. Lori battled bravely through numerous health issues since then, until she was hospitalized earlier this October with breathing complications, and passed away not long after, only to be embraced by her lord Jesus Christ.
Lori will be remembered as a sunworshipper, whether it was camping, sitting on her deck or somewhere by the water. She also loved to draw and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Lori had a quirky sense of humour; her laugh was contagious. She will be truly missed by those who were lucky enough to have known her. Lori will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Bryan (Amy), Dean (Tammy), and Rick Jr., her grandchildren, Braydon, Devon, Reid, Pratt, Tate, Damon and Delano, her brother, Ron Kent, and all her wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Ralph Kent, her husband, Rick Fry, her brother, Jim Kent, and her sister, Shirley Hinchcliffe.
In keeping with Lori’s wishes a Private Family Celebration of Life will be held. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com. Arrangements in care of: Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., 4415 – 49 Street, Innisfail, Alberta. Phone: 403.227.0006
