It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Ann Malcolmson at the age of 89. The daughter of Neil and May Livingstone, she was born in Edmonton. She is predeceased by her brother Jack Livingstone and her sister Wyn Brocklebank.
Margaret is survived by her sons Patrick (Sylvia) Malcolmson in Fredericton, NB., Bruce (Marianne) Malcolmson of Sylvan Lake, and David (Debbie) Malcolmson in Wilton, New Hampshire. There are 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Margaret worked for many years at the Post Office in Fort Saskatchewan and then in the financial department at Woodwards in both Edmonton and Calgary before retiring and moving to Red Deer. She was an avid reader and lover of cards. For many years, she happily volunteered at the Golden Circle in Red Deer and played an active leadership role in her condominium association.
Margaret will be remembered for her cheery disposition, her bright smile and sense of humor, her ready willingness to help others, and her loving care for her family. She was admired by her family for her intelligence, spirited independence, and her ever sunny disposition, come rain or shine. She led a life well lived and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later time.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of The Hamlets at Red Deer, where Margaret happily resided the past 4 years, and to the medical staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their care and concern for Margaret in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Foundation.
