Stalwick, Clifford Arnold
1933-2023
Clifford Arnold Stalwick passed this world into the loving arms of his beloved Savior on June 22nd, 2023.
Cliff was born on November 21, 1933, to Gertrude and Harold Stalwick of Domremy, SK., the first of their 7 children. He spent his early years in this loving farm family and the country school of Goldenrod. For his high school he boarded at the Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute, Outlook, SK and then on to Saskatoon for his final year. He pursued his degree at the University there, but decided to do his final year at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. It was there that he met the love of his life, Donna Mathison.
Cliff and Donna were married on August 21, 1956, at Leonard, ND, by her father, Pastor Arthur Mathison. This was the beginning of a committed, loving partnership in life and ministry. After finishing his degree at Luther Seminary, Saskatoon, Sk. He went on to serve in parish ministry for the next eight years, four in Weldon, Sk, and then at Outlook, SK.
It was during those years that they welcomed into their home their three children, Paul, Liz, and Joel, by adoption – precious years of the blessings and challenges of parenthood.
In 1967 he began travelling full time in evangelism under the newly formed Living Faith Evangelistic Association. He ministered extensively in Canada and the Northwestern part of USA. He also traveled twice on three-month-long world tours with his beloved mentor, Herb Mjorud. In 1971, the LFEA Board purchase The Frontier, west of Caroline, AB, for the purpose of establishing a retreat center and a Bible College, with the express purpose of training students in the Word of God for life and ministry. This ministry has continued on under the new name of Clearwater College. Cliff continued his leadership there for 31 years to his retirement in 2002. Since then, he and his wife have continued travelling in ministry in many countries, mainly in Africa, Nagaland (India), Germany, and Mexico. In 2020, he and Donna settled in Rocky Mountain House. Shortly after, Covid hit making an end to the travelling and giving them a peaceful 3 and ½ years of rest, as his body weakened. He spent his final two weeks in hospital after falling and breaking his hip – precious final days with family, and especially with his dear wife of 67 years.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his beloved wife, Donna, his daughter, Elizabeth Cruickshank (Gary), son Paul’s widow (Kellie), Cris, Ashley, Chenairy and Jonathan, and their families, and son Joel (Kathy), Elena, Connor, Liam and Gavin, four brothers: Rick, Dale, Brian and David, and two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cliff was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Gertrude Stalwick, his son Paul, brother Gordon, sister Helen.
