National Environment Week

LED lightbulb exchange program returns for final week

Jun 4, 2023 | 9:00 AM

During National Environment Week, Red Deerians can exchange their old lightbulbs for free LED bulbs one last time, while supplies last.

Residents are encouraged to stop by Kerry Wood Nature Centre from June 4-10, 2023 to trade out their old, used fluorescent or incandescent bulbs for new, high-efficiency LED bulbs. The program is limited to a maximum of 4 bulbs per person and participants must provide proof of residence within the city of Red Deer.

LED lightbulbs can help save energy and money, lasting 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. They also consume 5 times less energy than incandescent bulbs and 3 times less energy than CFLs.

Kerry Wood Nature Centre is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information on the program and how to dispose of your old bulbs properly, please visit https://www.reddeer.ca/city-services/environment-and-conservation/your-home/light-bulb-exchange/.
