Downward trend continues for Red Deer building permit values

This April, building permit values in the city of Red Deer continued to decline year over year.

There were 77 approved permits valued at $5.2 million, compared with 85 permits worth $6.5 million in April 2022.

It is up from March 2023 though, when 62 permits worth $3.28 million were approved.

Year-to-date values remain lower in 2023, with current values at $27 million compared with $43 million last year.

Notable permits include:

  • Building permit to construct new, free standing Triple O’s restaurant with drive thru at 130-3115 50 Avenue, valued at $1 million.
  • Building permit to install five paint booths and two make up air units at 6767 Golden West Avenue, valued at $700,000.
  • Building permit for addition, renovation and modernization of Hunting Hills High School at 150 Lockwood Avenue, valued at $223,000.
  • Building permit to construct new single detached dwelling with front attached garage and rear deck at 47 Thayer Close, valued at $185,713.
  • Building permit to construct new single detached dwelling with unfinished basement at 444 Timberlands Drive, valued at $167,000.
