Mrs. Ina May (Oszli) Peck passed away at Innisfail, Alberta on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the age of 96 years. She was born on January 28, 1927 to Fred and Hazel Smith. Mom and her younger brother, Orville, were raised on the Smith Family farm northeast of Wimborne, Alberta. Mom attended Steadman Country school and finished high school in Wimborne. After high school, Mom worked at various jobs in and around Innisfail. As a young independent woman, Mom acquired many skills in those early days. She enjoyed her friends, and the Saturday night dances they attended. It was at one of these dances in 1948 that she met and married George Oszli. They settled in the Grahamston area, where they farmed and raised four children, Judy, Iris, Don, and Della. Later, George and Ina started Oszli’s Meat Processing on the family farm before moving it to Innisfail in 1972, after the original business was destroyed by a fire. In 1985, George passed away suddenly. Mom was alone for a few years before marrying Herbert Peck in 1993. Mom gained two additional sons, Richard, and Garry. This was a special time for both Mom and Herb. They found comfort and love with each other in their retirement years. Together they lived in Innisfail, traveled, participated at the Drop-In Centre, played cards and visited with friends, family and neighbours. Mom gifted her family with treasured blankets that she knitted or crocheted. She made fantastic saskatoon pie and her pie crust was legendary. Ina excelled in her role as a wife, mother, business owner and grandmother. She loved her family and was thrilled with the arrival of each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom possessed a positive spirit and a very loving soul. She had a quiet sweetness and a kind presence that enveloped those she loved. Those close to her appreciated her warmth and witty sense of humor. She loved to share a good laugh with a little chuckle. Ina will be lovingly remembered by her children, Iris (Gary) White, Don (Faye) Oszli and Della (Grant) Lastiwka, and Richard (Sandy) Peck and Garry (Solveig) Peck, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Evan (Alyssa) White, Emmett; Dayna (Adam) Wolfe, Scarlett, Judah; Stephanie (Kevin) Rieberger, Braydon, Isabella; Nathan (Hayley) Oszli, Atreyu, Talula; Alexa Lastiwka and Mataea Lastiwka Motley (Garett). She was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Oszli in 1971, her first husband, George Oszli in 1985, and her second husband, Herb Peck in 2020. Mom will be dearly missed, but always remembered for her wisdom, kindness and gentle heart.
