Fire takes out detached garage in Michener Hill neighbourhood

Red Deer Emergency Services responded to a fire Saturday (April 22) at a home near 42 Avenue and 51 Street, in the area of Michener Hill.

Assistant Deputy Chief Jon Evans says four engines and 20 members responded just before 1 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a detached garage to be fully involved with flames.

Another detached garage next door was also on fire, though most of the damage was restricted to the side it started on. That side is virtually a write-off, says Evans, adding there were vehicles inside.

No one was hurt, nor were there any animals involved.

The cause is unknown at this time. None of the actual homes on any of the properties were damaged.
