Red Deer RCMP respond to shooting

Local Mounties are investigating a shooting in Red Deer’s Mountview neighbourhood Wednesday morning.

On March 29, 2023, at 8:22 a.m., Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at a residence near 38 Street and 41 Avenue in the city of Red Deer. Thankfully, say RCMP, no one was injured.

Because of the location of the incident, however, RCMP say they alerted nearby schools who were placed into a “hold and secure” status. This status has now been lifted, say police.

Although early in the investigation, RCMP believe this was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
