WPCA open bottle drive now underway

Mar 27, 2023 | 12:15 PM

In case you missed it: Phase 1 of the West Park Gardens Development has been completed, and the WPCA has now begun fundraising for Phase 2 of the project!

An easy way you can help support the project is by contributing to our Open Bottle Drive, which will be running from this Monday (March 27) until April 30.

We have partnered with the Red Deer West location of the Cosmos bottle depot (Cosmos II), located at 6332 Orr Drive for this Open Bottle Drive. Until April 30th, bring your empties to this Cosmos location and say that you would like them set aside for the West Park Community Association. It’s that simple!

Just make sure that you go to the Red Deer West location. Their hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, seven days a week. This bottle depot is only a few minutes from the neighbourhood, via the highway.

So, the next time you have a build-up of bottles to deal with, please consider putting your bottle depot money toward this exciting local project.

Phase 2 of the West Park Gardens Development

Fundraising Goal: $28,000
(total Phase 2 budget: $205,500)

Features of Phase 2 will include:

  • Central, Paved Trail; periphery trails
  • New Trees
  • Natural Amphitheatre
  • Park Benches & Picnic Tables
  • Food Forest (public orchard)
  • Enhanced Sledding Hill

Games Node (outdoor ping pong, chess tables)

We have already raised $16,000 towards Phase 2 of the project, with a goal to raise $28,000 by July — so, still a little ways to go! If you’re able, please consider making a monetary donation (every little bit helps).
