Central Alberta playing host to four provincial hockey championships

Hockey Alberta provincial championship tournaments are coming to a rink near you, starting this weekend.

Titles will be on the line across Alberta including in the central Alberta locales of Lacombe, Red Deer, Sylvan Lake and Olds.

Here are some further details about those tournaments:

Red Deer – U15 Female AA – March 23-26 – Servus Arena

Host team: Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs

Pool play begins on Thursday and continues until Saturday.

The top two teams will play for the gold medal on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. The bronze medal game goes at 9 a.m.

The host plays the following schedule of round-robin games:

· Thursday, March 23 @ 6:30 p.m. vs. Edmonton Pandas

· Friday, March 24 @ 9 a.m. vs. Calgary Fire Red

· Friday, March 24 @ 5:15 p.m. vs. St Albert Chargers

· Saturday, March 25 @ 8 a.m. vs. Rocky Mountain Raiders

Lacombe – U15 Tier 2 – March 23-26 – Gary Moe Auto Sportsplex

Host team: Chandos Lacombe Rockets

Pool play begins on Thursday and continues until Saturday.

The top two teams will play for the gold medal on Sunday at 4 p.m. The two semi-finals go at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. (there is no bronze medal game)

The host plays the following schedule of round-robin games:

· Thursday, March 23 @ 7:15 p.m. vs. Beaverlodge

· Friday, March 24 @ 3 p.m. vs. St. Paul

· Saturday, March 25 @ 4:30 p.m. vs. Trails West BC 2 White

Sylvan Lake – U18 AA – March 30-April 2 – NexSource Centre

Host team: West Central Tigers

Pool play begins on Thursday and continues until Saturday.

The top two teams will play for the gold medal on Sunday at 1 p.m. The bronze medal game goes at 10 a.m.

The host plays the following schedule of round-robin games:

· Thursday March 30 @ 5:30 p.m. vs. CAC Butchers and Packers

· Friday March 31 @ 11:45 a.m. vs. TRAC Wolverines

· Friday March 31 @ 6:15 p.m. vs. Bow Valley Timber Wolves

· Saturday April 1 @ 12:45 p.m. vs. NWCAA Stamps

Olds – U13 AA – March 30-April 2 – Olds Sportplex

Host team: Olds Grizzlys (SCAHL league champions)

Pool play begins on Thursday and continues until Saturday.

The top two teams will play for the gold medal on Sunday at 1 p.m. The bronze medal game goes at 10 a.m.

The host plays the following schedule of round-robin games:

· Thursday, March 30 @ 6:15 p.m. vs. NAHL Metro

· Friday, March 31 @ 11:30 a.m. vs. NAHL Rural

· Friday, March 31 @ 5:45 p.m. vs. SCAHL

· Saturday, April 1 @ 12:30 p.m. vs. Calgary
