It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Allen McKinnon with his wife, Glenda, by his side, after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease, on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the age of 63 years. Allen was born on September 6, 1959 in Red Deer, Alberta, where he grew and thrived surrounded by a family that he loved. After several years as a carpenter, he found his career and passion as a Respiratory Therapist travelling extensively around Central Alberta’s rural communities. When not at work, he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He loved nothing more than weekend drives to Sylvan Lake for ice cream, family road trips in the summer, slush trips down the hill with his son, and daddy and daughter camping trips. Sharing his passion for skeet shooting and archery with his children was one of his favorite pastimes. Allen was a dedicated and accepting family man and will be missed dearly by all. Allen will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Glenda, his son, Cameron (Orville), his daughter, Catherine (Josh) and his grandchildren, Sydney, Brandon and Tyler. He will also be sadly missed by his mother, Barb, his brother, Malcolm (Kerry), his sister, Pat (Jim), his father-in-law, Glenn, his sister-in-law, Judi (Dan) his nephews and nieces, Scott (Darcie), Shari (Paul), Jennifer (Norm), Jeff, Brady, Spencer (Shayla) and Bryn (Kaylee), as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Allen was predeceased by his father, Don, his mother-in-law, Merla and his nephew, Joe.
