It is with great sadness the family of Todd Schatschneider announces his sudden passing at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on February 19, 2023 at 44 years of age.
Todd was born June 21, 1978 to Alfred and Louise Schatschneider at the Innisfail Health Care Centre. He was the baby brother to two sisters seven and eight years older. Without his consent, Todd became his sister’s plaything as they would dress him up, curl his bangs and generally use him as their personal cabbage patch kid naming him Todd-asheena.
Todd grew up on the family farm homesteaded by his Papa Herman Schatschneider in the Craig Community near Spruce View. He developed a love for riding motorbikes, driving vehicles, and operating machinery at an early age that would continue through adulthood.
Todd attended Spruce View School from kindergarten through Grade 12 and made friends easily; many who remained life-long buddies. After school, he entered the workforce doing various jobs within multiple industries building a valuable skillset. Todd thrived operating large machinery including excavation equipment and driving tractor trailers. His outgoing and compassionate nature helped him develop strong interpersonal skills allowing him to work effectively with a variety of personalities. He took great pride in a strong work ethic and attention to detail setting an example for those around him. His experiences and skills lead him to his dream job working at J&B Brown Farms and as the saying goes “he never worked another day”. He and Jason made an incredible team operating a large hay production and transportation business with big plans for the future.
Todd was an active part of the community throughout his life. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. He played hockey in both the Spruce View program and Innisfail Midget AA. As an adult he coached minor hockey and played in the local men’s league. Todd and his wife Chelsey took great pride developing and maintaining their acreage located only a quarter section away from his childhood home. They enjoyed hosting family, friends and neighbours for events and celebrations or just visiting around the fire.
Todd had an unwavering passion for family and he will be lovingly remembered by his wife Chelsey Schatschneider (Wattie), daughter Sereya Nissen (Cade Barnett) and granddaughter Hadley; daughter Jayda Schatschneider (Dulton Raddis); parents Alfred and Louise Schatschneider; sister Lori (Blair) Budvarson and their daughter Kristen (Kolton) Densmore and son Kirk Budvarson; sister Janice (Harlan) Fox and their sons Isaac, Damon and Lane; mother-in-law Colleen Oxtoby; father-in-law Kevin Wattie; sister-in-law Cherity Wattie (Patrick Syslak) and son Grayson; brother-in-law Brandon Wattie along with other family and close friends.
