Its with heavy hearts the family announce the peaceful passing of Clifford “Cliff” Sumlak on January 28, 2023, at the age of 91 years. Cliff was born on May 3, 1931, in Bluffton, Alberta to William and Augusta Sumlak. Cliff left home at the age of 16 years to find work. He had many jobs including working on the railway tracks in British Columbia with his brothers, working at the Olds College and driving Taxi, before he became a tradesman in 1950 in the auto upholster industry opening his on shop in Olds in 1963. Cliff married Ivy Schmaltz on February 3, 1951. They had 4 children: Irene, Darlene, Rolyn and Randy. Cliff enjoyed bowling and playing his guitar as well as volunteering much of his time to many places. He is survived by his fiancé Christa; children Irene (Brian) Maetche of Didsbury, Darlene Sumlak of Calgary, Randy (Deseree) Sumlak of Sicamous; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grand child. Cliff was predeceased by his parents William and Augusta Sumlak; his wife Ivy (2006) and his son Rolyn (1990). A celebration of Cliff’s life will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 1:00pm.
