It is with deep sadness and regret that we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Phyllis Marjorie Butt.
After a brief and brave battle, Phyllis slipped away peacefully, in the tranquil surroundings of the Lacombe, Alberta, Palliative Care Centre Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the age of 80 years.
Phyllis was born on January 1, 1943, to Donald and Albertine (LeCourtois) Butt in Hudson Heights, Quebec. For 72 years, Phyllis lived, married, and raised her family within a mile of the home she grew up in. During those early adult years, she was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. Phyllis, never to be denied a challenge, entered the workforce, and became a well-respected manager of the cafeteria at Hudson High School. Building on the cafeteria accomplishment, Phyllis held the position as a manager at the Hudson Yacht Club, followed by the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club.
In 2014, Phyllis decided to spread her wings by moving to Blackfalds, Alberta. Phyllis was very active in her new home while being President of Blackfalds Cheemo Seniors Club and made many dear friends during her eight years living in Alberta.
Phyllis was a generous, light-hearted, and compassionate soul. She loved the simple things in life and spending time with her precious family.
Phyllis is survived by her children Daniel, James (Lyne), Andrew (Lynn) and Deborah (Chris), her siblings, Leon (Rosemarie) and Dawn, her grandchildren, Eric (Amanda), Kyle (Niki), Meghan, Jasmine, Kaitlin, Ashley and her great grandchildren Isabella and Henry.
We want to sincerely thank Dr. Nadine Chatel and all the nursing staff at the Lacombe Hospital Palliative Care, Unit B for their kind and compassionate care of Phyllis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to “The Lacombe Palliative Care Society” For further details, please click their link Donate Now at www.lacombepalliativecare.com. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
You can only have one mother
Patient, kind and true.
No other friend in all the world,
Will be the same to you.
When other friends forsake you,
To Mother you will return,
For all her loving kindness,
She asks nothing in return.
As we look upon her pictures,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.
Sweet Jesus, take this message,
To our dear Mother up above.
Tell her how we miss her,
And give her all our love.
