Valentine’s Day dinner and dance to help support Fairview Elementary School library

A sweet event just in time for Valentine’s Day is set to take place at Fairview Elementary School with all proceeds going towards enhancements to the school’s library.

Red Deer Public Schools District (RDPSD) says the event, taking place on February 11 at the school (5901 55 St) will include a dinner, fun casino and dance with door prizes and silent auction items available throughout the evening.

“The cornerstone of public schools is the community and the neighbourhoods in which we are located. We are excited to welcome the community to our school for this exciting fundraising event,” said Teresa Tataryn, Principal of Fairview Elementary School.

Officials say the funds raised through ticket sales as well as the silent auction will seed Fairview’s library enhancement project and assist with equipment and furniture for a refreshed design. They say the library also helps support the work of the school council.

“Together with community partners, resources and grant funding, we will realize the vision for an environment where warmth, belonging, safety, community and culture draw a child into readiness for learning,” said Tataryn. “The library will be the hub of the school and embrace student needs, inspire learning and nurture hope.”

Tataryn says she encourages the community to purchase tickets for the upcoming event.

“It’s going to be a really fun evening and it will support a really great cause – an improved library space for our students,” she said. “Each ticket purchased helps impact the lives of kids.”

Tickets are $50 a person and the event is open to the community.
