It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Hugo Emmanuel Strohschein on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the age of 88 years. Hugo was born in Halkirk, Alberta, and moved to the Alix area with his mom and dad, his brother, Gerhard, and his sister, Elnora. This is where he spent his years growing up on the farm, and where he developed a great love of animals. Hugo liked to work and had a long career in construction. The last forty of his working years were spent at Border Paving. In his retirement, he took great pride in having a well-kept yard. He enjoyed going camping and sitting around the fire with friends. For many years, Hugo and Helen went to the NFR in Las Vegas and other trips in Canada, US and Mexico. Hugo will be greatly missed and always remembered for his kind, gentle ways, and warm loving smile. Hugo will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Helen; his daughters, Bonnie Dey (Dennis) and Melanie Anderst (Grant) and his son, Curtis Strohschein (Sharon), his four grandsons, Tyson (Jen), Taylor (Chyanne), Colton and Mason, and his four great grandchildren, Rhys, Rowan, Hattie and Lincoln, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Hugo’s wishes, there will be no Service. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
