Joyce Victoria Horne (nee Hearne)

Joyce was born on July 26, 1926, in Rochester, Kent, England and passed away on January 10, 2023 in Ponoka, Alberta at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her loving husband; Harold (Jim) Horne; her parents, Hector and Laurie Hearne; her sister, Doreen Baker; her brother, Roy Hearne.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her children, daughter: Laurie (Herb); sons: Paul (Donna); Jim (Darlene); grandchildren: Shayne (Celynne); Paula (Warne); Arlo (Jen); Aaron (Monica); Carrie (Tom); Brandie (Ann); Lisa (Travis); Nicole (Dave); Jesse (Julianne); Andrea (Cam); and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Joyce grew up in England where she met her husband during WWII. She immigrated to Canada as a “Warbride” in 1946 and raised her family in Canada. They were married for 77 years. Joyce excelled at crafts, loved gardening, cooking and her desire to ever-expand her knowledge. Her major career was spent as a Unit Clerk in the Didsbury Hospital.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 28th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at St Luke’s Anglican Church (4929 – 54th Street, Red Deer, Alberta.

Family is sincerely grateful to the staff at Northcott Care Center in Ponoka for their care in Mom’s last year.
