Mrs. Carol Frances Ellis (nee McKay) passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023 at the age of 79 years.
Carol was born at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on June 2, 1943 to Colin Angus McKay and Fernande (Fernie) Frances Caron. She grew up in a loving home with her siblings, Donald Andrew Mckay of Soldotna, Alaska, Linda June McKay of Kelowna, British Columbia and Colin Bruce McKay of Calgary, Alberta. She was predeceased by her son Donald Barry Ellis who died in 1970 in Calgary. She has five children Tania Charlene McCullough (with husband Larry McCullough), Donald Barry Ellis, Andrew (Drew) Duncan Ellis (Leisa Thiem) Dustin Barry Ellis (Erin Shanahan), Donald Godfrey Ellis (Melissa Phillips). Since 1983 Carol and Barry lived in Innisfail area. She has ten grandchildren who basked in the light of her amazing love. The grandchildren are Natalie Bradshaw (27), Jaycee Ellis (24), Kevin McCullough (22), Jaren Ellis (22) (with wife Lauren Jenkins), Jade Ellis (19), Jesy Ellis (13), Damon Ellis (12), Brielynn Ellis (8), Bailey Ellis (7), Jackson Ellis (1).
Carol was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She recently served a temple mission in Preston England with her husband Graeme Barry Ellis. Her life was filled with travel, adventure and happiness. She loved to serve other people and had many lifelong friends. She did a lot of volunteer work and headed up a women’s group in Innisfail called Relief Society. Her leadership and valor was evident in everything she did. She recently traveled to Rome, Italy to see the sights which added to her list of places of interest, Israel, Colombia, England, Scotland, Wales and many other places in the USA. She did weekly volunteer work in the Calgary Temple for the past two years.
Carol is known for her many talents, love for people and her caring for her husband Barry Ellis who enjoyed her companionship, her devotion and her guidance of over fifty-four years. As a family we can only say how she will be missed leaving a huge hole in our hearts. We collectively revere her memory. Thank you, Carol for all you did for us, how you taught us. We thank God for her life and her Spirit. She was brave during her trials in life and her recent suffering before her passing. Rest in peace. We wish to acknowledge the wonderful people from Innisfail Home Care who provided services, caring and advice. You really gave us wonderful guidance and information. Thank you! A Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Public Visitation will be held from 10:30 – 12:30 p.m. If unable to attend the Service, it will be livestreamed, go to www.heartlandfuneralservices.com and click on Live Stream at the top right hand side just prior to 1:00 p.m. The Service can be accessed Sunday morning on Carol’s website page for those unable to watch at the time of service.
