It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Guido Christian De Visser, on Tuesday November 29, 2022, at the age of 68. He had a short, but courageous battle with leukemia & pneumonia.
Guido was born to Adrian and Elsa De Visser in High River AB, on June 8, 1954. The 2nd oldest of 7 children. He spent his younger years between Cochrane, Cremona & Water Valley. He came to Sundre in the early 1970’s where he met Heather & eventually settled in James River. Guido started logging as one of his first jobs near the Spray Lakes by Canmore, which set off a lifelong passion for wood & the bush. He worked the rigs in the 70s. Guido excelled in competitive karate as a young man. In the 80s, Guido & his brother Andre, built & ran their own head rigging sawmill. 25 years later, Guido bought his own bandmill & built cabins, sheds & the likes, which can be found all over AB. He also raised whitetail deer & elk on the side for many years. Guido was an avid hunter, sawyer, craftsman & jack of all trades. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being on his farm, exploring the bush & west country & a good auction.
He is lovingly remembered & dearly missed by his life long love of 43 years, Heather Johnson. Children Trevor(Erin), Jesse & Chantel(Darren). Grandchildren Brooklynn, Briella, Bryson, Basil, Skylar & Denver. Mother Elsa DeVisser, siblings Terry(Heather), Michel, Andre, Arlet, Tris & Yolanda(Trent) & numerous extended family & friends. Guido was predeceased by his father Adrian.
