Ms. Amy Victoria Manning of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away during the early morning hours, on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the age of 35 years. Amy was born on July 12, 1987, at Red Deer, Alberta, where she grew up. Amy graduated from Hunting Hills High School, attended Red Deer College and subsequently, the University of Alberta. Amy earned a Bachelor of Science in both Psychology and Biology (dual degree) and went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Although Amy had various struggles throughout her life, those who knew her saw in her sparkling, mischievous smile that she was overflowing with life itself. She was happiest around many people and could have been described as the ultimate extrovert, but also needed her down and comfy time. Amy’s wit and ability to quickly make the worst situation into something funny was second to none. Those close to Amy will remember her laugh first when they think of her, because it lit up everyone around her. If Amy was laughing, so were you. Amy always stated what she thought and how she felt, often without a filter. Occasionally, her blunt honesty could be difficult for many to deal with, but it was also spot on, and if you listened closely, it had an edge of real wisdom to it. Amy lived a life without boundaries, and lived it to the fullest; lives lived in such a way have so much joy and so much sorrow combined. Prior to her passing, Amy found kindred souls and spirits in many human beings around her that understood struggle. Those who touched Amy’s life in such a positive way will be remembered by both Amy and her family. Amy’s memory will live on in her mother, Rita Manning, her sister, Melissa Manning (Chad Harder), her pup, Ghozer, and the many relatives, friends, and patients that knew her and got to see her very best sides. Amy was predeceased by her aunt, Laurel ‘Dell’ Carnrite, her paternal grandmother, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Manning, her father, William ‘Bill’ Manning, her maternal grandmother, Tabea Zirk, her uncle, Harry Zirk, and her uncle, Donald ‘Don’ Manning. Interment will be held at the Alto Reste Cemetery, 26575 AB-11, Red Deer County, Alberta on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta at 1:00 p.m. The family has asked that relatives and friends please dress casually in honor of Amy. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving friends a good belly laugh, or, if desired Memorial Donations in Amy’s honor may be made directly to an Animal Shelter of your choice (Paws and Claws in Red Deer is always in need) at www.pawsandclawsanimalrescue.ca/donate.
