It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard ‘Rick’ Rene Gaudreau of Red Deer, Alberta. He passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the age of 62 years. Rick was born June 29, 1960 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. He was raised by his adoptive parents, Ad and Margaret Gaudreau in Edmonton, Alberta. Rick was a meticulous carpenter; his finishing work was exceptional. He could build anything. Rick was a very hard worker and owned and operated his own Construction Company called RCG Projects Inc., with his son, Cody for many years. Many friendships came from his client base because of his fair and friendly nature. In his earlier years, he managed a motel and two resorts with his ex-wife, Jude; they adapted to any challenge that came their way. In his early twenties, he held a Stone Mason Journeyman Certificate and much of the rock work you see in Kananaskis was done by his hand while working for Parks and Recreation out of Edmonton, Alberta. He was a member of the Kinsmen Club of Innisfail for several years and thoroughly enjoyed the comradery and volunteer work to help make his community better. Rick loved his red truck, which he had for many years! He enjoyed spending time out in the country at his son’s place to just hang out and have a beer around the fire. He will be greatly missed. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Cody Gaudreau, stepdaughter Cherise (Jason) Backen and their children, Lucas, Sophie, and Ben, his granddaughter, Rowan Kavanagh, his ex-wife, (and friend) Jude Desaulniers, and many close friends. Rick was predeceased by his mother and father, Ad and Margaret Gaudreau. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will take place at a later date.
