Rebels on six game winning streak following victory over Warriors
The Red Deer Rebels stretched their unbeaten streak to six games to start the season, following a 4-2 win over the Warriors at the Moose Jaw Events Centre Friday night.
The first period comprised of just a few unseized power play opportunities for the Warriors until the home team scored in the final 20 seconds on Rebel’s goaltender Kyle Kelsey. It was Jagger Firkus who scored his third goal of the season, assisted by Denton Mateychuk and Lucas Brenton, putting the Warriors up 1-0.
After 30 minutes of play, the Rebels outshot the Warriors 13-8.
In the second period, the Rebels tied the game 1-1 when the Warriors actually scored on their own net during a clearing attempt. Deeming Red Deer’s Kai Uchacz as the beneficiary, it was listed as his fifth goal of the season, unassisted, on former Rebels netminder Connor Ungar.
