It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Johanna Margaret Cossins in Red Deer, Alberta, on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the age of 91 years. Johanna was born on April 1, 1931 in Valley Centre, where she was raised and surrounded by a large extended family. She was united in marriage to Lance Cossins on October 12, 1949. Together, they decided to make farming their way of life in the Horn Hill District of Alberta, until semi-retirement in 1992, when they moved to Red Deer. Throughout Johanna’s life, she was an active member in the community, including, a Sunday School teacher and leader of C.G.I.T, a 4-H leader, as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Women’s Institute. She loved spending time with her family, whether it was Sundays with everyone or activities with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who have loved her and will forever remain in our hearts. Johanna will be lovingly remembered by her children; Muriel, Joan (Jim), Diane (Andre), and Bill (Tracy); her grandchildren; Jennifer (Bill), Allison (Adam), Joseph, Sarah and Jacob and great grandchildren, Mason and Benson. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Betty, Helen (Aart) and numerous nephews and nieces. Johanna was predeceased by her husband, Lance, her brother-in-law, Bill Whittemore and son-in-law, Nick Underwood. We wish to thank the staff at Points West Living for our mother’s care over the past years and we are so grateful to everyone.
