We regret to announce the sudden passing of Debra Dearing (Dordevic) on October 3, 2022, at the age of 62.
Debra was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on August 14, 1960. Throughout the years, Debra lived in Wetaskiwin, Edmonton and lastly, in Red Deer where she spent over 30 years with her family. Debra met and fell in love with her husband, Rick, in Wetaskiwin over 45 years ago. The High School sweethearts quickly became inseparable and were married on July 14, 1979. Their marriage was incredibly strong and they spent more of their lives together than apart.
Debra started her work as a legal secretary at various law firms but notably, Sisson Warren Sinclair (Warren Sinclair), where she worked for over 30 years. In all of her working relationships, especially Kirk Sisson & Rhonda Elder, she became like family. She was extremely devoted to her profession and the clients she worked with also grew to love her over the years.
Apart from her work as a legal secretary, just over 7 years ago, Rick and Debra opened up a spa in Sylvan Lake where they worked together almost every Sunday. Debra loved a challenge and looked forward to seeing familiar patrons walk through the doors. Besides work, Debra volunteered with Alberta Baton Association working bingos, casinos and competitions. Over her 20 years spent volunteering with baton, she developed many lifelong friendships that were extremely important to her. No matter the context, Debra was driven, extremely hard working and always putting others before herself
Debra’s most proud accomplishments were being a devoted wife, mother and grandma. She was known to her family and friends by her kind and generous heart. Her love for her family was unmatched. You could see the love she had for her family beaming from her eyes after each dinner, phone call or weekend together. Debra made you feel like the most important person in the world and would do anything for the ones she loved. Debra loved to camp, spend time with her grandchildren, watch Survivor and create a beautiful garden with her husband, Rick. Her warm and friendly personality had an impact on everyone she met and we all feel fortunate to have the time we spent with Debra.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Rick Dearing of Red Deer, her brother Peter (Trudy) Dordevic of Lethbridge, her daughters Kassia (Kyle) Rawlinson and Larissa (Shay) Redford of Red Deer, her son Noel Dearing of Sherwood Park and her grandchildren Merrick and Mia Rawlinson. Debra was predeceased by her parents Mike and Ursula Dordevic, her first born son Michael James Dearing, and brother George Dordevic. Debra’s family finds comfort in the fact that Debra passed away after what she said was “a great weekend/the best weekend” spending time surrounded by her grandchildren, husband and family. Debra had so much to look forward to in the next few months and years to come that she was extremely happy at the time of her passing.
A viewing and service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 starting at 2:00pm. The service will be at the Haynes Hall on Township Rd 390, Alix, Alberta, T0C0Y0.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Debra’s honor can be made to the heart and stroke foundation of Canada. at https://www.heartandstroke.ca/ .
