Mr. David ‘Dave’ Stanley Grimberg passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the age of 61 years. Dave was born at Innisfail, Alberta on September 3, 1961 to his parents, Martha and Hans ‘Jim’, where they resided and Dave attended school. Dave wore many hats after he graduated. He worked at Lundgren Motors, then on to farming in 1979 with his Uncle Reynie, Johanson Dairy Farm, Stramit Corporation and Innisfail Transfer. He then found his love of traveling with Innisfail Transfer and Loadmasters, Fas Gas Transport, Front Runner Freight Ltd and with Promax. The Trucking Industry brought new challenges and rewards. He loved the open road, especially when travelling with his friends and co-workers. Dave was able to travel throughout the United States and Canada, and even did a trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands. That was a highlight for Dave. He also worked in the office as a dispatcher for a time, and we had never known anyone who loved to do paperwork like Dave, and he was good at it! The love of the open road started when Dave was young, the family would go for Sunday drives out west to the Caroline, Sundre and Rocky Mountain House areas. His friends were beneficiaries of that love as many trips were made to places like the Ya Ha Tinda, Ram Falls, Rig Street, and the Marshmallow Highway. Anywhere out west was where Dave was happy, sharing with his friends. There was a special interest in the dam at Glennifer Lake. He followed the construction from the very beginning to the end. Dave had grown up in the area and loved to swim; he was good at that too! Dave loved all the seasons, and found joy in the smallest things, like making a snow angel, or lots of lights, and having bonfires in the winter. Wherever he went, he was the party, and had an amazing laugh and sense of humour… He could entertain everybody, and he never forgot anything, or anybody. Another love of Daves’ was 40’s and 50’s swing and big band and easy listening music, no country music. He loved old movies too! Relaxing with an old movie playing was a pastime. Dave had a deep love for family and his friends. It was said that “everyone he met, he touched.” He had friends that he had had for forty years and more. He was one of a kind, and there will never be anyone like him again. Dave had a lot of special bonds with people, and family, but his bond with his grandma was well known to everyone. There was never a bigger simile than when he was with her. It was pure love. His closeness with his mom, Martha, and his brother, Alfred was amazing and beautiful. They were always there for one another, and the trust and love they shared was strong. Dave will, indeed, be missed. Another quote from a friend, Johannes, was “Dave was a big man, with a big personality, and an even bigger heart.” Yes, he was.
