It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Mr. Norman ‘Norm’ Elmer Rosiechuk on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the age of 82 years.
Like his father before him, Norm made his mark in Alberta’s Oilpatch, primarily in Medicine Hat, Alberta, then, later in Cochrane, Alberta, both under the Nor-J name, which was known far and wide.
Norm was an active participant in the Professional Chuckwagon Racing Associations over the years; and reached a lifelong goal of having his Chuckwagon outfit compete in the Rangeland Derby at the Calgary Stampede, under the Frac Master canvas.
Norm’s interests included chuckwagon racing, all things horses, Ukrainian music and food, trucking, travel, lively outings, sharing life experiences, long phone calls, colorful metaphors, and spirted debating.
The family gratefully acknowledges the care and attention given to Norm by the staff of Villa Marie Covenant Care, Red Deer Alberta; especially the last few years, as Norms needs increased. Norm was surrounded by the loving caregivers of Villa Marie at the time of his passing, after spending a great visit and Ukrainian meal with his brother Mel, earlier that day.
Norm will lovingly remembered by his sons, Brent (Juliette) and Troy. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Mel, Jaline, Shauna, his sister-in-law, Sandra (Robert), numerous nieces and nephews and his lifelong friend, Bob Miller. Norm was predeceased by his parents, George and Olga Rosiechuk, and a brother, Robert.
A Memorial Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are encouraged to join us for an informal Celebration of Life at a local establishment, later in the day.
Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Norm’s ashes will be scattered as per his wishes, at a later date.
As Norm was the happiest around his beloved horses, in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donation in Norman’s honor may be made directly to the Wild Horses of Alberta Society, Charitable Registration Number 86431 5288 RR0001, through www.CanadaHelps.org.
