It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Todd Gordon Reade. Todd passed away on September 5, 2022, at the age of 43 years old.
Todd is survived by his mother, Linda Reade (Rasmussen), sister, Kirsty (Christopher Ripley) Reade, niece Kaydence and nephew Carter, his Uncles Ian (Wendy) Reade and family, Gary (Jody) Rasmussen and family, Bruce (Val) Rasmussen. He was predeceased by his father, Craig Reade, grandparents, Royston Reade, Gladys and Isaac Leppky, and Harry and Cathy Rasmussen.
Todd was born in Hinton, AB on March 12, 1979. It wasn’t long after his birth that Craig, Linda, and Todd moved to Olds, AB where he lived until finishing High School. He spent time in Red Deer and Edmonton while completing his bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration. Todd chose to further his education through distant learning in Australia where he completed his Master of Business Administration.
Anyone that knew Todd knew his love of travel, aquatics, and volunteering. He spent most of his career dedicated to non-profit work, which fulfilled these loves, and lead to many awards of recognition which he humbly accepted. A few of the associations he was closely linked to, but are not limited to, include, Recreation for Life, the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association, the Lifesaving Society, and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Society of Alberta. Another big piece of his career was supporting the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects as executive director. His connections span across the world leaving many friends, some who he considered family, grieving his loss.
In keeping with Todd’s wishes, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to causes that were important to Todd; Recreation for Life (https://recreationforlife.org/), the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services at the University of Alberta (https://www.ualberta.ca/ismss/get-involved/donate.html), the Rainbow Railroad (https://www.rainbowrailroad.org/donate), or we encourage you to find a way to volunteer in your community in his memory.
