Red Deer unofficially sets new temperature record for September 11
A number of unofficial daytime high temperature records were set throughout central Alberta on Sunday.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Red Deer area set a new record of 29.3 degrees Celsius on Sept. 11, beating the old record of 29.2 degrees Celsius set in 2017. Records in this area have been kept since 1904.
Elsewhere, the Stettler area reached a new record high of 32.3 degrees Celsius on Sept. 11, surpassing the old record of 30.0 degrees Celsius set in 1944. Records in this area have been kept since 1918.
A new record of 31.0 degrees Celsius was set in the Sundre area on Sept. 11, beating the old record of 29.1 degrees Celsius set in 2017. Records in this area have been kept since 1993.
