Our mom, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Mrs. Edelia Noël, left us to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 91 years. She has left behind many beautiful memories of a full life, well lived. Edelia was born on December 3, 1930, into a family of twelve children; whose riches lie in hard work, kindness and deep love for family, and grounded in Ukrainian tradition (song, dance and shared meals). She married her beloved Paul Noël on August 21, 1949. Together, they had six children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grand grandchildren and recently two great great grandchildren. Over the years, there were many who called Edelia “mom’ as she had a wonderful way of loving and accepting each person as a gift. Edelia was a beautiful soul, with a profound faith that radiated love. She was a great baker; her cinnamon buns were a favorite to many. She was a great cook and shared that gift with many. Edelia had the gift of a “green thumb”; which she showed through her many great harvests of fruits and vegetables, along with an abundance of flower gardens and bouquets. Edelia’s light will continue to shine in all the hearts of those she shared life with. Edelia will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Philippe Noël of North Delta, British Colombia, Guy Noël of Clive, Alberta, and Jules Noël of Lacombe, Alberta, her daughters, Sylvia Noël of Donnelly, Alberta, Claire (Harold) Goertzen of Red Deer, Alberta, and Viviane (Robert) Widdifield of Red Deer, Alberta, her fifteen grandchildren, her twenty-two great grandchildren and her two great great grandchildren. Edelia will also be sadly missed by her sister, Irma Duneanko. Edelia was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul Noël, her brothers, Mike, Eli, Willie, Leonard, Ernest and Dennis Duneanko, her sisters, Vera Boisvert, Lucy Twerdechlib, Clara Frohlich, and Elsie Nielson. A Prayer Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4816 – 55 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Father Jan Sobkowicz Celebrant. A Private Family Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe, Alberta. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Edelia’s honor may be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada at www.alzheimer.ca.
