Innisfail RCMP arrest male after Emergency Response Team deployment

RCMP say charges are not being pursued following an incident in Innisfail Wednesday night that brought out a heavy police presence.
On April 27, 2022, at approximately 8 p.m., Innisfail RCMP received a complaint of a male in distress who had barricaded himself in his garage and was threatening to shoot police with a crossbow.
RCMP contained the house and called for assistance from the Southern Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team and Crisis Response Team (RPACT).
RCMP and RPACT negotiated with the male for several hours. At one point, Mounties say the male deployed a can of bear spray on himself and was in medical distress, so ERT made a forcible entry to the garage.
