Big Valley resident wins a million bucks
A central Alberta woman is one of Alberta’s newest millionaires after matching all seven numbers for one of the MAXMILLIONS prizes awarded for the March 29 Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) LOTTO MAX draw.
After checking her tickets using the self-checker at a local store a few days after the draw, Deborah Brown, of Big Valley, discovered she was holding onto a $1 million winning ticket. WCLC officials say she scanned the ticket five times before the reality of her windfall sunk in.
“When I got back to my car, my daughter called me and said I sounded funny. I told her, ‘I just won a million dollars!’” Brown recalled as she claimed her prize.
The newly-minted millionaire has some plans for her windfall.
