Peacefully on April 15, 2022, Margaret passed away at the age of 102 at Points West Living in Red Deer.
Margaret was predeceased by her daughter Lois and her husband Fred; her parents John and Rose McNabb and her sisters and brothers: Anne, Alec, Bill and Rosalind. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Arthur, his wife Lori and her granddaughters Caitlin and Mariel and by her sister Lil and by her many nieces and nephews and their families.
Margaret was born on a farm near Newdale Manitoba on August 5th, 1919. Grew up on the farm, later moving to Newdale where she worked at the local bank and met Fred, married and had her two children. A new job for Fred brought them to Red Deer in 1958. They joined Gaetz Memorial United Church and Margaret started her over sixty years of active participation in virtually all aspects of the churches work. Margaret loved to garden and was a long-time member of the Red Deer Horticultural Society. She was also active in the West Park community. Early in the Red Deer years, she provided sewing services from home and later would work as a clerk in the retail sector. Once retired, she continued her community involvement and found time to travel and enjoy new activities; making new friends all along the way.
At Margaret’s request, there will not be a Memorial Service.
The family is sincerely grateful to the staff of Points West Living and Inglewood Retirement Residence for the care provided to Margaret in the latter years.
Memorial donations may be made to Gaetz Memorial United Church or a charity of one’s choice
