Julie Lynn Nettnay (nee Thompson) of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Red Deer Hospice on March 22, 2022, at the age of 43 years.
Julie was born in 1978 in Red Deer, Alberta where she was raised and spent her life. As the youngest of three girls, she was beloved by her sisters and spent much time with them. In her childhood years she was avid in swimming and most summers were spent in the pool and at swim meets.
Winter weekends were spent at the Canyon Ski Hill. Julie and her family spent summers and fall camping, hunting and fishing. She had a true love for the outdoors.
At the age of 16 Julie had her only son Chance (Joel) and dedicated that time to raising and caring for him. Later in life Julie enjoyed travel and experienced Jamaica, Costa Rica, Las Vegas and several trips to Mexico where she also spent her honeymoon.
Julie was with the Hiway 9 group of companies for a total of 17 years, where her current years of service totalled nine years. This is where she met her husband Donald Nettnay in 2015, and the two were married on April 10, 2016. They spent their years together camping, travelling, and enjoyed a backyard campfire any chance they could get, always welcoming friends and family to join.
Her last two years brought her a battle in which she stood strong and courageous with Don by her side. She actively connected with others experiencing the same battle, and provided support, advice, and encouragement, and that appreciation was openly expressed.
Julie is lovingly remembered by her son Chance Lee; her husband of six years Donald Nettnay; sisters Susan (Greg), Kim (Don); nieces Ashley (Mike), Carley; nephews Carter (Robyn), Sawyer, Gage, and great-nephew Turner. She was predeceased by her father and mother Robert & Shirley Thompson.
We encourage donations in Julie’s memory to Red Deer Hospice Society https://www.reddeerhospice.com/donate1.html
