AHS offering free weight-management sessions online

Local residents are invited to learn safe and effective strategies to manage their weight by attending an Alberta Health Services (AHS) weight-management program online.

This series of free workshops is led by AHS health professionals who share their expertise and guide interactive group sessions.

The program, open to residents 18 years of age and older, is an online version of AHS’ weight-management workshops, which are offered regularly in communities across Central Zone.

Upcoming Zoom workshops include:

  • Adult Weight Management Level 1 (three sessions)

Increase physical activity, manage calories and nutrition.

April 4, 11 and 18 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

April 12, 19, 26 from 5:30 p.m.to 8 p.m.

April 27, May 4 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Adult Weight Management Level 2 (three sessions)

Manage thoughts and feeling that affect behaviour change.

April 6, 13 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Adult Weight Management Level 3 (two sessions)

Manage eating away from home and maintain positive habit changes.

April 14 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Adult Weight Management – Introduction to Bariatric Surgery

Learn general information about bariatric surgery, the types of bariatric surgery performed in Alberta, possible complications, health outcomes and steps for success. No referral or pre-requisite is required to attend the workshop.

April 22 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
