Mrs. June Massey of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the age of 87 years. June was born on March 6, 1935 to Peter and Myrtle Henningsen in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1950, the family moved to Brock, Saskatchewan, where June met Gene Massey. Gene and June were married on March 24, 1954. Together, they farmed near Kindersley, Saskatchewan until 1972, when they moved their family to Red Deer. June was known for her friendly, outgoing personality, great sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. She was seldom seen without a smile. Mom was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. June will be lovingly remembered by her children, Steve Massey, Dana (John) Eadie, Barb (Rick) Redel, Karen (Rick) Layden, David Massey, and Laurie-Anne (Darren) Layden; her nineteen grandchildren and her thirteen great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Larry Henningsen and her sister, Irene Vogel. June was predeceased by her husband, Gene in August 2003.
