Joseph ‘Joe’ Welygan passed away at Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Joe was born on April 28, 1931, in the family farm house, in Gronlid, Saskatchewan. After Joe completed his schooling, he went to work in the lumber camps in British Columbia. There, Joe met the love of his life, Hilda Spenst. They were soon to be married and began raising their family of seven. A decision was made to relocate and a quarter section was purchased near Morningside, Alberta. Joe then began his career in Construction and commuted to Red Deer daily. Joe enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, volleyball and curled with the church for several years. Joe loved the Toronto Maple Leafs and attending any sporting event. Joe had a great sense of humor and had the ability to bring a smile to everyone’s face. Joe will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of sixty-four years, Hilda, his three sons, Darwin, Owen (Terrie) and Todd, his four daughters, Bonny, Debbie, Terri (Michael) and Jody, his grandchildren, Bradley (Trisha), Nicole (Clae), Daniel (Terri), Tyler (Sara), Joshua, Travis and Austin, and his great grandchildren, Malachi, Ellemae, Titus, Faith, Aidyn, Ryston, Hailey and Jack. He will also be sadly missed by his sister, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family and church family. Joe was predeceased by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
