It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Evelyn Drozda on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 76 years after a courageous battle against a rare illness. The hole she will leave in the lives of all who knew and loved her will be impossible to fill, but we take comfort in knowing her earthly suffering has been replaced by heavenly peace.
Jean was born October 7, 1945, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her son Monty (Tanya) Drozda, and daughter Larissa Drozda. She leaves her two beloved granddaughters’ Zoe and Mia, her sister Rosanne (Harper) Boucher and sister-in-law Darlene Pshyshlak. She is predeceased by her brother Michael Pshyshlak and parents John and Mary Pshyshlak.
Jean laid down her roots in Red Deer with her kids 40 years ago. She worked in many businesses including farm newspaper sales and enjoyed meeting people during her retail position at Parkland Mall. Her last occupation before retiring was working in sales at the Red Deer Advocate.
Jean was a nurturing, young-spirited soul, and an unwavering friend who touched the lives of many. Her beautiful smile was a source of comfort and joy and was infectious- when Jean was present you were sure to be smiling and having some good laughs. She made long-lasting friendships, connecting with young and old alike, and had extensive support throughout her life from family and friends who cared deeply for her.
Some of her greatest joys in life were being around her two beautiful granddaughters’ whom she loved ‘to the moon and back’, working on her super-creative crafting projects, finding yet another rooster treasure to add to her collection at local thrift shops, and spending time decorating and gardening outside.
Her love and devotion for her two children is her greatest legacy. Everything she did was for their betterment, and their bond was unbreakable and loving in return.
A public memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287-67 A Street (Taylor Drive) Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, Jean’s family encourages you to plant a colorful, unique perennial in your garden this spring in her remembrance.
