Red Deer Mountie facing assault charges in off-duty incidents

A Red Deer RCMP officer is due in court next month after being charged with assault in three separate off-duty incidents last year.

Cpl. Brandon William Smith, 42, is charged in relation to incidents alleged to have taken place at or near Red Deer on Mar. 20, July 7, and Dec. 22, 2021.

Inspector Holly Glassford, Acting Officer in Charge for Red Deer RCMP detachment, confirms Smith is an active member at the detachment, but has been reassigned to administrative duties.

Smith’s case is scheduled for plea in Red Deer provincial court Mar. 10.
