It is with great sadness that the family of Jeanne announces that she gained her wings peacefully on January 31, 2022 at the Rosefield Care Centre in Innisfail, Alberta. Jeanne entered into this world on February 25, 1929 in Red Deer Alberta weighing only 2 lbs to Ed and Jessie Barrett. As the years passed she enjoyed filling her days with learning the ways of the Alberta Meat Market, along side of her parents and her sister Charlotte. Jeanne would always tell you about her father as he was elected as a City Alderman in 1961 and went on to be the Mayor from 1965 to 1974 in Red Deer, Alberta. Barrett Park, Barrett Drive and Barrett Place are all named after Ed Barrett.
Jeanne in her adolescence learned quickly that she enjoyed teaching children so she followed her dream. Jeanne became an Elementary Teacher, starting at the Little Red Deer School and retiring in 1987 after a wonderful 21 years at the Bowden Grandview School.
Jeanne spent many years filling her time with her dedication to the Knox Presbyterian Church as a valued member as well as a Sunday School Teacher. During these memorable years Jeanne brought two of her own bundles of joy into this world along side (said) husband Stan Harrison, Jacqueline and Marcelene. As the years past Jeanne found her way back to her family home in Red Deer in the early 1980’s. This is where Jeanne became very active in many organizations such as the Rebekah Sisters of the Lodge, Knox Presbyterian Church, T.O.P.S. Pals from Alberta 617, Hilltop and Balmoral W.I.’s and Central Alberta Oldtimers just to mention a few.
Jeanne loved spending time with her family thus including her seven great grandchildren. She also never turned a blind eye to when one of her Granddaughters were trying to take her on an unknown adventure, she would just jump right in always having it end in laughter. Jeanne shared so many laughs with her family, when it came to sharing jokes, making home videos, or just trying to have a “normal” conversation. Jeanne was always so proud of her family and was always willing to share them with any visitor or friend that could spare a few moments to hear a story or two.
(Agnes) Jeanne Harrison is going to be forever missed by her Daughters; Jackie Harrison, Marcy (Andrew) Bloss; Sister in Law; Kay Resch, Grandchildren; Crystal Bloss, Jodi (Blair) Kenzle, Jennifer (Zach) Bloss-Lovely, Tyler-Wayne Ratledge and Desiree (Cody) Maetche and her Great Grandchildren Brodie, Kayde, Kylee, Bryson, Emberly, Graysen and Brynleigh. Jeanne will also be missed dearly by a large extended family and many friends.
She was predeceased by Stan Harrison, Ed and Jessie Barrett, Charlotte and Aubrey Jestin, Edward Jestin and Jim Ratledge.
At Jeanne’s request a Celebration of Life will be held at another time after Covid Restrictions have ended. We ask that instead of flowers or a memorial donation that you take time to be kind, help a stranger, go on adventures and always take the time to make memories with your family & friends!
