The Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre in Red Deer has named a new executive director.

Amber Mack takes over from Monica Morrison, effective Feb. 8.

Morrison has served as executive director for more than 10 years, and is leaving the post for retirement.

“Working at the Golden Circle has been the highlight of my career. Being able to work with a team of staff, board members and community stakeholders who want to make a difference in our community has been my biggest blessing,” Morrison tells rdnewsNOW.

“I feel good about what we have achieved and that people can live with dignity in community. I have been blessed by meeting many people and hearing their stories, and that is what has made my heart whole. Thank you Red Deer.”

As for Mack, a dedicated community builder, says a media release, she will represent seniors and the organization with professionalism and enthusiasm. The Golden Circle is a resource for not only seniors and older adults, but people with disabilities who are 18+.

“For me, this is really the perfect opportunity to marry my passion for serving my community with my education and experience. I am looking forward to working with the board and the staff team to continue the amazing work the Golden Circle has already been doing, and to lead the organization to an exciting future,” says Mack.

“Seniors are our aunts, uncles, grandparents and one day, Lord willing, we too will become seniors. They should be held with utmost regard and highest esteem as they carry our history with them and paved the way for our future.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me to better understand seniors values and priorities and to ensure that aging adults feel a sense of belonging when they come to the Golden Circle,” she adds.
