October ‘Burgers of the Month’ raise nearly $3,000

Nov 6, 2021 | 12:07 PM

Cilantro and Chive is donating nearly $3,000 to two charities after a very successful October Burger of the Month campaign.

At their Lacombe location, $1,350 was raised for the Lacombe Health Trust.

Guest chef and ER nurse in Lacombe, Taryn McCrank, is proud of her close-knit community.

She hopes the funds will help, “directly influence and improve the healthcare that is provided to members of our community, directly benefiting our neighbours, friends and family.”

The Lacombe Health Trust mobilizes resources and funds projects, equipment and education for health care workers and clients at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre.

Projects are typically driven by the hospital needs, with the hospital approaching the Board with requests. Currently the Health Trust is working with the Lacombe Hospital and Alberta Health Services to update and improve the intake area of the hospital.

For November, $2 from each ‘Takes two to Mango’ burger sale at C&C’s Lacombe location will go to Central Alberta Youth Unlimited (CAYU). The guest chef is Jerel Peters, CAYU’s executive director.

In Red Deer, a donation of $1,613 is going to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation for its new Centre for Child & Adolescent Mental Health being built in Calgary.

Selected by guest chef and photographer Ashley Jackson, the centre will help patients achieve long-term positive mental health through therapy and other supports.

For November in Red Deer, Barkley, the Blackfalds Bulldogs’ new mascot, is the guest chef. The burger du mois is the ‘Barkburger’ with $2 from the sale of each one going to the Bulldogs Community Foundation.
