It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvette Anna Bilodeau (nee Longpre) on October 3rd, 2021 at the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Alberta with her family by her side.
Yvette was born January 7th, 1955 and was raised in St. Albert, Alberta. She always spoke fondly of her childhood and had many cherished memories of growing up on Mount Royal Drive.
In 1975, she married the love of her life, Bob Bilodeau, and together they raised three children, Craig, Michael and Annique. Throughout their early marriage, they lived in numerous places, creating many happy memories. In 1980, the family settled in Fort St. John, B.C. where Yvette had a career in the Catholic School Division for many years as the secretary of Immaculata Catholic School. She then went on to work in the Health Unit. During these busy years raising a family, she spent many hours supporting her children’s extra curricular activities. Yvette loved to listen to music and sing along to the radio. She was very active with the church choir and developed a deep and steadfast faith in the Catholic Doctrine. In 2010, Bob, Yvette and Michael moved south to Olds, Alberta to be closer to Craig, Annique and the grandchildren, Bowen, Brooklyn and Millie. Yvette fell in love with the community and people of Olds. Yvette continued to pursue her love of singing by joining a local choir. Yvette loved to cook and bake for her family, one of her specialties was French Canadian Meat Pie (Tourtiere) which her family cherished each year. Yvette loved to garden, and enjoyed many hours tending to her plants. She especially enjoyed sitting in the beautiful space that she and Bob created on their patio, enjoying the sunshine and listening to nature. Yvette belonged to Tops, she always looked forward to seeing her fellow members each week. She recently finished a 2 year term as President, and was proud of her chapter. But her greatest joy was her family, of whom she was so proud of. She especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Yvette’s life on earth was so, so much more! She touched many lives in so many ways and will be dearly missed. Left to mourn Yvette are her husband Bob, son Craig (Bowen and Brooklyn), son Michael, daughter Annique (Millie), her siblings, Gerald (Francine), Muriel (Dave), Gilbert, and numerous extended family. At Yvette’s request no formal funeral service will be held. Those who wish to honour her memory may do so by donating to a charity of their choice. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Foothills Medical Centre and staff on the ICU Unit C for their excellent care and concern.
