Posted Oct 14, 2021 | 4:17 PM
Ruby Sonja Meyer went to be with her Lord and Savior September 28, 2021. She was born January 12, 1939 in Didsbury, Alberta to Herman and Clara Dageforde. She was the youngest of 5 children. She attended Westcott Country School and Didsbury High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Meyer, on May 3, 1958. Their farms were 4 miles apart on the Westcott road. They attended the same high school, rode the same school bus and attended the same church. They had 2 children, a daughter Wendy, and a son, Brent. Ruby worked as a telephone switch board operator for A.G.T. in Didsbury, was a Welcome Wagon hostess in Ponoka and a bookkeeper and partner with Jack in Meyer’s Men’s Wear in Olds for 33 years. They retired in 2004. She was a shy, compassionate, loving, Christian woman of faith with a giving heart. Family, friends and church were very important to her. She was interested in genealogy, scrapbooks, photo albums, her family history, dolls and stamps. Other interests included figure skating, sports, hockey, softball and the great outdoors-God’s country. Ruby is survived by her daughter Wendy (Ira) Mullin; her son Brent (Janelle) Meyer; her grandchildren Joshua (Syenna) Mullin, Meta Mullin, Jayden Meyer and Brianna Meyer; sister Jean Stewart; sister-in-law Judy Dageforde; sister-in-law Marilyn Meyer; brother-in-law Jerry Dutkiewicz; brother-in-law Allen (Linda) Meyer and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Jack Meyer of 59 years in 2018, sister Joyce (Fred) Rodway, brother Ted Dageforde, sister Eileen Dutkiewicz, and brother-in-laws Larry Stewart and Don Meyer. She will be sadly missed. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made directly to Gideons International.
