After a long battle for her health, Mrs. Mary Anne Anderson of Red Deer Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the age of 66 years. We are so grateful to have had her for this long and broken-hearted to have to say good-bye so soon. Mary Anne was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, to Ford and Rose Kennedy on December 24, 1954. Ford always said she was the best Christmas gift that anyone could have received. Mary was the youngest of three children. At the age of nine years, they moved to Victoria, British Columbia. Mary, also known fondly as Mary Anne, would grow up on the west coast. Here is where she met and married her High School sweetheart, Rennie. After a few years of marriage, they welcomed Valarie into their lives. Mary Anne was a stay-at-home mom until Valarie was eight years old, then with all the courage it takes to be a mature student, Mary Anne went back to college and received her education to be a Unit Clerk in the Hospitals. Mary Anne and Rennie made their home in a variety of places throughout the years, and it was Mary’s aging parents, Ford and Rose, who helped them make the decision to move, once again, back to Penticton. It is here that Mary Anne began working with Revenue Canada, where she worked in several different departments. When Rennie received employment in Alberta, Mary Anne was able to transfer to the Red Deer Revenue Canada Office, which required one more move. This new location would be where they called home for the next twenty-one years. Mary Anne continued working out of the Revenue Canada Office, until her retirement. Mary Anne retired early so that she could enjoy the busy, full-time days of being Grandma; as she looked after her two granddaughters, Kassidee and Katelyn. Mary Anne was completely devoted to her family; both her and Rennie found great pleasure in creating a multi-generational space to reside. When Mary Anne wasn’t spoiling her friends and family with her cooking, Mary Anne and Rennie were able to enjoy seeing many parts of the world. Travels started when Rennie and Mary Anne bought their first motorhome, and started traveling with Valarie up and down the west coast of Canada and the USA. Their more exotic trips included the South Pacific, Peru, Brazil, numerous Caribbean Islands, and her favorites, Italy and Greece. This is where fate intervened; Rennie and Mary Anne met Ken and Kate from Texas, and they became instant friends and continued to travel the world as a foursome.
The family extends thankfulness to Dr. J. Mulder for the years he looked after Mary, his level of compassion and care was at the highest level, they are so grateful.
Mary Anne will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Rennie; her daughter, Valarie (Trevor); and her granddaughters, Kassidee and Katelyn; as well as many extended family and dear friends. Mary was predeceased by her father, Ford; her mother, Rose; and her two brothers, Leonard and Gerald; her mother and father-in-law, Jessie and David; a sister-in-law, Darlene; and a brother-in-law, James.
