Mr. Ernest ‘Ernie’ Brauen passed away at Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the age of 88 years. He passed away peacefully due to medical issues that in recent years showed his good humour and courage in facing life challenges. He was born in Springvale, Ontario on June 18, 1933, the eldest child of Walter and Lily Brauen. Ernie met the love of his life, Mary (née Jendrasheske), on a blind date in Winnipeg in 1956. He travelled extensively with the Military being stationed in Portage La Prairie, France, Cold Lake, Winnipeg, Summerside and Penhold. Ernie was active in the community, the Lutheran Church, Boy Scouts of Canada and St. John’s Ambulance. He loved fishing and camping, and instilled the love of the outdoors in his sons. He loved to sing and was a member of several church choirs.
