Cornelius Lehn

On September 18, 2021, at the age of 87, Cornelius (Corey) passed away like the man he was, gentle and quiet, with his daughter by his side.
Corey was born in Hochfeld, Ukraine to Katharina and Kornelius Lehn. At age 15 he immigrated to Canada to work sugar beets in Coaldale AB. Shortly after he and his mother would make their home in Calgary, Corey would continue to Saskatchewan to begin a career in the propane and heating industry.
In 1972 he would return to Calgary with his family. Corey spent the next 25 years working in the sheet metal and heating industry as well as building homes. He was involved with First Mennonite Church, caregiving for the elderly and countless hours volunteering for seniors.
2017 would find him moving to Bentley AB to be near his daughter. Many week-long sleepovers were spent watching sports and classic movies and listening to jazz. His daughter would learn to prepare a number of Russian Mennonite dishes for him and he always had an honest opinion.
Corey was a man of few words but always welcomed a visit, conversation and a laugh. He was very kind-hearted and willing to help anyway he could.
He loved children of all ages and felt very blessed to have 2 granddaughters. 2020 would bless him with his biggest milestone yet, his great granddaughter. He was fortunate to live independently and took pride in growing tomatoes even through this summer.
After a brief stay in the hospital Corey would join those who went on before him. He leaves behind his daughter Terry (Byron) Reban of Bentley, stepson Perci Hala of Merritt BC, granddaughters Natawni (Jeff Nathe) Codd and Shenoah Reban, great granddaughter Remi, all of Coaldale AB. Corey was predeceased by his mother Katharina, sisters Katie Neufeld and Hedi Gerlach, wife Tena, as well as his late companion June Young.
A private internment is to take place at a later date at Edenbrook Cemetery in Calgary. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.arbormemorial.ca
