Florae

You need to nourish to flourish.

Florae owner Sophia Middleton has always loved plants, and dreamed of owning her own business.

She had everything ready to open her shop just in time for the first lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sophia chose to go for it anyway, learning to be adaptable to the times and what works for her family.

Since then, she has created an inviting local business that puts people first.

Sophia started her community support as a Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor, working with families to make sure their children travelled safely.

She believes volunteering in the community is important, as it allowed her to meet many wonderful people, while helping build personal support groups.

Giving back to the community helps it’s overall health and well-being, providing a sense of pride and kindness that enriches your day-to-day experiences.

Since opening, Florae has assisted the community in a variety of ways, through donating items to fundraisers and auctions for various community needs, along with profits and volunteer hours to the Fostering Hope Animal Rescue Foundation.

They’ve assisted with the Mustard Seed and contributed to initiatives for schools and senior living facilities in Red Deer.

Florae is a family-friendly, inclusive local business where everyone is welcome to relax in the mini living room set-up for a break or a chat.

They hope that running their business in a slightly unorthodox way encourages other parents and aspiring entrepreneurs to find away to accomplish their dreams, even if it doesn’t fit the norm.
