Betty May Oliver of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Bethany CollegeSide care home on August 31, 2021 at the age of 86 years.
Betty was born in 1935 in Lethbridge, Alberta. Growing up in Lethbridge, she was a very active girl. She swam, hiked, biked, sang in a choir, and attended the local YMCA.
In Red Deer, Betty worked as a unit secretary at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. She joined the local hiking club and the Boys and Girls Club. She attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sylvan Lake. She was no longer able to work after suffering a stroke in 1994.
Betty will be remembered for a dry sense of humour that everyone loved. She is fondly remembered by family, friends, and all of the staff at Bethany that cared for her after her stroke.
Betty is survived by her sons Bradley and Tom; daughters Barbara and Shelley; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and three great-grand cats. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Mary Nitz; brothers Garry and Milton; sons Charles and Scott; daughters Rhonda and Judy Clifford; grandchildren Dustin Oliver, Wade Clifford and Jennifer Verhulst; and great-grandchild Skye Perkinson.
A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held at the Centre for Spiritual Living, #3, 6315 Horn St, Red Deer AB on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:00 pm. A luncheon will be served.
