Town of Ponoka announces new initiatives to celebrate Pride Month
As part of its commitment to being a welcoming, inclusive and caring community, the Town of Ponoka has announced a pair of initiatives aimed at recognizing Pride Month.
Those initiatives include:
- The Town flying a Pride flag at the Town of Ponoka Environmental Services Building (the old Fire Hall) in conjunction with a Pride flag ceremony held by Ponoka Pride & Community GSA on June 28.
- The Town is also projecting the Pride flag colours onto the Ponoka Civic Building with a light display that can be viewed after sunset.
“Ponoka is a diverse community, and we believe that all people should feel respected, valued and included in our community,” said Ponoka Mayor Rick Bonnett, in a press release. “Flying the Pride flag and projecting the Pride colours onto the Ponoka Civic Centre is an act of celebrating diversity and inclusion in our community and showing our support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.”
