Red Deer with 114 active COVID cases

Red Deer is down to 114 active cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, according to the latest numbers from the province. That’s down one from Sunday’s total of 115 and the city’s reported lowest total since March 20.

Recoveries are up three to 5,568 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose just two to 5,722.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 40.

The Central Zone as a whole has 366 active cases as of Monday and 25 hospitalizations, including six receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital. The Central Zone has had 163 deaths linked to COVID-19, including one reported in the past 24 hours – a woman in her 40s who passed away June 12.

Across Alberta another 115 cases of COVID-19 were announced Monday out of 3,315 test results for a positivity rate of 3.5 per cent.

Active cases across the province are down to 3,089.

There are 270 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, including 73 in intensive care.

One new death linked to COVID-19 was reported in the past day, while a previously reported death was determined post-mortem to be unrelated to COVID-19, bringing the province’s total to 2,270.

3,412,751 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta, with 68.8 percent of the province’s 12+ population having received at least one dose and 20.8 percent fully vaccinated with two doses.

In Red Deer, 56,534 people have received at least one dose with 21,658 now fully vaccinated.
